About OnceTopNews

What is the news covering today? OnceTopNews answers that with numbers.

What we do

Every 5 minutes, we tally the articles 27 outlets publish and the views on their YouTube news videos. When many outlets cover the same story at once, we automatically group it into an “event” with a timeline.

Every day’s rankings are saved, so you can look back at any day in the Archive. Every Monday we also publish a weekly report on what people cared about most the week before.

What we don’t do

Where the data comes from

Numbers reflect our tally as of the latest update and change over time. Coverage and views aren’t the same as public opinion as a whole, so treat them as a reference.

Citing and embedding

Media, bloggers and researchers are welcome to cite our rankings — please credit “Source: OnceTopNews” with a link. To put a ranking on your own site, use ; it updates automatically every 5 minutes.

The Once Hit family

OnceTopNews is part of the Once Hit family, along with OnceAccount (account center), OnceEvent (event marketing platform), OncePing (website uptime watchdog), OnceClip (video creation tool), OnceKeeper (collector) and OnceTool (extensions). One account signs you in to all of them.

OnceTopNews doesn't use advertising or analytics cookies, so there's nothing to turn on or off here.

Our regular pages don't set cookies. Your account page, sign-in, and embedded widgets use a session cookie and a security cookie that expire after 120 minutes. The Site needs them to work.

We also keep a few things in your browser's local storage, such as your sign-in token, the reactions you've tapped, and your display settings. You can clear them at any time in your browser settings.

Because we don't sell or share personal information, a Global Privacy Control signal has nothing to change here. If that ever changes, we'll treat it as a request to opt out.
